Meet Rosie Withey

Rosie is a freelance, holistic riding coach. She works with clients who live within a 20-mile radius of Clutton, near Bristol.

She brings a gentle and deeply knowledgeable approach to her work born from a lifetime of riding and 22 years as a professional riding instructor/coach.

Because she’s overcome so many challenges herself, Rosie knows just what it’s like to feel less than completely confident as a rider. This means she deeply understands what you may be feeling and the challenges you may be facing.

As a skilled riding coach, her intuitive, holistic style includes both your horse and you as the rider.  So you develop as a person and as a rider, while your horse learns to move with more freedom and natural balance.

Also, because she is both a qualified professional life coach and riding coach, Rosie doesn't simply "tell you what to do" but instead fully involves you in the training and development of your horse.

Rosie enables you to gain insights and develop new skills based on understanding, enabling you to make substantial progress between sessions.

Rosie's professional background

Rosie competed in dressage to BD (British Dressage) Advanced Medium level, in show jumping and eventing to BE (British Eventing) Novice level.

Rosie combines her traditional BHS (British Horse Society) training to BHSII (British Horse Society Intermediate Instructor) with her professional life coaching skills.

She built and ran a successful Equestrian centre for 13 years, which focused on training and developing horses and riders. Rosie has always been attracted to 'challenging' horses and, after selling her business in 2003, she became a freelance riding coach and pursued alternative therapies and natural horsemanship techniques.  With additional qualifications in Reiki, Hypnotherapy and Life Coaching, she also attended workshops in TTeam and Connected Riding.

A fall from her horse in 2008 led her on a personal journey that started when she read Linda Kohanov's books The Tao of Equus and Riding Between the Worlds. They immediately struck a chord with her, and she recognised that she had spent much of her life suppressing her emotions and in particular her fear around certain horses.  In 2009 Rosie travelled to Tuscon Arizona to train in Equine Facilitated Learning.  She is a 2009 graduate of EASE (Epona Advanced Study Experience) and in March 2010 Rosie became an Epona Approved Instructor of Equine Facilitated Learning (www.taoofequus.com).

Throuth her EPONA training, Rosie has learnt how to recognise her emotions and feelings as information that she can use to inform and guide her riding, her coaching and her life.  As she continues to develop her authenticity, emotional agility and true confidence, her interactions with both horses and humans have improved.
