How Rosie Can Help You Ride With Confidence
Rosie brings a profound awareness of the thoughts and feelings you may be experiencing as a rider. She has personal experience of lacking confidence in herself and in her abilities, which gives her a deep empathy for those still stuck in this difficult place.
She helps young girls and women ride with confidence by showing them how to enjoy a high level of communication between themselves and their horse. This arises first through a similar high level of communication between herself and her students.
Her breadth of training enables her to teach in a variety of ways, ensuring that whatever difficulty you are experiencing, she can almost certainly find a way to help you overcome it.
Do you recognise yourself in any of these statements?
- You’re struggling to improve your riding by yourself and recognise that skilled outside help would move you on more quickly and effectively
- You are not progressing the way you want to, and are ready to try a different approach
- You feel anxious and stiff when riding, maybe are not completely sure of your ability, and want someone to gently guide you
- Your riding posture is having a detrimental impact on your horse, and you want someone to show you the best way to sit for both you and your horse
- Your horse seems stiff and unbalanced, which sometimes leads to misbehaviour, and you want to know how to release the tension
- Your horse has been seen by therapists, but is not improving, and yet you intuitively know that there must be a solution
- Your feeling of lacking in self-esteem has been unaddressed - or has only been addressed with the old-fashioned “go on you can do it” advice - which hasn’t worked!
Some people become frustrated and despondent, their lack of confidence and low self-esteem increases, as do feelings of helplessness. They may feel angry, depressed, upset, and anxious. Sometimes this can spill over into other areas of their life.
In other words, their horse is not bringing them the enjoyment it was intended to – and often in cases where no expense was spared!
Some of the many ways Rosie could help you get more from your horse include
- Gaining the confidence to do more with your horse, for fun or competitions
- Believing in yourself and your abilities, a quality that often spills over into helping you be more successful in other areas of your life, including relationships and work
- Enjoying a relaxed and supple riding style, which in turn leads to greater riding skill
- Improving your riding posture - decreasing stress on your body and giving you greater clarity of mind - which in turn means you and your horse can have a lot more fun
- Improving the balance and suppleness of your horse’s movement
- Healing any physical problems your horse may have, even those that have been checked out by your vet and physiotherapist, but that remain unresolved
- Helping you recognise how you would like to move forward
- Creating an inspiring plan, broken down into achievable steps
- Building a solid foundation for your training – both on and off your horse
- Developing both your riding ability and your horse's training
- Recognising and overcoming barriers to becoming a confident rider
- Gaining greater confidence and increasing your self-esteem
- Making riding safe, fun, and relaxed
You may have experienced being "told what to do" or had your horse professionally schooled for you. This may not have worked because what you really want is to have some involvement in the training and development of your horse. You want to be enabled to progress with your horse – by yourself - between sessions.
This means your sessions can be as regular or irregular as you choose.
Some of the skills Rosie brings to help her students ride with confidence include
Her many years of experience
- Rosie's a horse owner and rider who loves sharing what she's learned over a lifetime of riding, and 22 years working as a professional riding instructor/coach
- She has experience of a diverse range of situations where she's helped clients in numerous ways, e.g. regaining confidence, improving movement, improving behaviour, and so on
- She's successfully trained horses that had been checked by vets and therapists, but where previous training was still not improving its movement or behaviour
Her holistic approach
- Rosie takes into account both the horse and the rider
- She takes into account physiological problems, as well as any psychological issues
- She focuses on the health of both horse and rider, as well as harmony between horse and rider
Her depth of compassionate understanding
- Rosie knows what it's like to lose confidence and self-esteem because of worrying about what other people may or may not think
- She knows how frustrating it can be to receive conflicting advice
Rosie patiently takes the time to understand where a horse and/or rider is stuck. She then takes them back to basics, instead of pushing them to do something that neither horse nor rider are ready to achieve. Paradoxically, this often moves the horse and rider forward more quickly than ever before.
