Coaching
Equine Clear Direction helps motivated and enthusiastic horse owners/riders from of all levels and disciplines to develop greater awareness and understanding of themselves and their horses, leading to a more rewarding partnership. Rosie brings energy, fun and enthusiasm to her coaching which she combines with her intuitive understanding of people and horses and her great attention to detail. She benefits from a lifetime of experience with horses which she combines with her traditional BHS training, professional coaching and hypnotherapy skills and her continuing desire to improve her own skills. This gives her the ability to craft each session to suit horse and rider/owner on the day.
Rosie offers her unique style of coaching to individuals and combines a programme of dismounted and mounted sessions.
This programme begins with an assessment. This is an opportunity for you to talk to Rosie about your current level of training, expertise, and confidence, what you have accomplished with your horse/pony to date and any problems that you are experiencing. It also gives Rosie the opportunity to: Get to know you and your horse and how you work together as a partnership. Take a brief history of your riding experience. Assess your horse’s behaviour, movement and level of training. Assess your riding ability. Offer an honest, straightforward, practical and positive appraisal.
The assessment then provides the foundation of further coaching. Every combination brings a different perspective and therefore each programme is uniquely designed and tailored to suit you and your horse, your aims and aspirations. However, each programme will include:
One to one personal coaching to: Clarify your goals, aims and objectives. Identify your strengths and areas for development. Create an individual training plan/programme. Identify any barriers and discuss options to overcome them, including hypnotherapy and visualisation techniques. Improve levels of confidence. Watch and assess video footage and monitor your progress. Recognise and celebrate your success.
Flatwork/Dressage (some of which will be videod) to: Raise awareness of the correct body position and understand how it effects the horse’s movement and performance. Create a balanced riding position. Develop your feel for a correct way of going. Build a solid foundation of training. Improve quality of flatwork – balance, rhythm, suppleness and correct outline. Improve dressage marks – attention to basic transitions, school movements and training patterns. Improve communication and partnership with your horse. Provide training exercises for practise between sessions.
Dressage forms the basis of training of a horse, which directly influences all aspects of riding from hacking to jumping to the highest levels of dressage.
Groundwork (some sessions to be videod) which may include: This helps to develop greater awareness and understanding of your horse’s movement, muscular development, behaviour, natural way of going and areas for improvement and will provide you with training techniques to support your progress. Jumping (if required) (some sessions to be videod) to: Raise awareness of the correct jumping position and its importance. Build physical strength and fitness and technique of you and your horse using grid exercises. Bring value of flatwork into jumping to ride courses. Provide training exercises for practice between session
